Visit The Northern Lake District

Irton House Farm is ideal for a peaceful holiday, located in stunning surroundings at the edge of the the Lake District National Park. The cottages are within easy driving distance of the Cumbrian towns of Cockermouth and Keswick and the stunning lakes of Bassenthwaite, Derwentwater, Buttermere, Loweswater and Crummock Water.

Cockermouth, the birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth, has many attractions. Wordsworth House is owned by the National Trust and open to the public. For beer lovers, the famous Jennings Brewery is still situated in the town centre where you can enjoy the brewery tour. You can also visit the ruins of Cockermouth Castle. The town centre has a good mix of local shops, galleries and cafes.

Keswick has a market every Thursday and Saturday. There are lovely accessible walks beside the lakeshore or you can take a trip around Derwentwater on the launch. Nearby is the Theatre by the Lake which shows various performances throughout the year.

The majestic views and surrounding wildlife provide ideal inspiration for artists and photographers. Take a short drive over to the stunning Lorton Valley or Borrowdale near Keswick where there are many wheelchair accessible walks or head to the Cumbrian coast for a contrast in scenery.

After a busy day you can relax and unwind at one of the local pubs or simply enjoy the comfort of your chosen accommodation at Irton House Farm.
